Janice Hahn and Craig Huey will face off in the runoff election for the vacant 36th Congressional District seat.

Hermosa Beach residents and others in the district cast ballots Tuesday in  seat. The top two finishers— and —were elected to face off in the July 12 runoff election. was low across the area.

Beach Bathrooms Closed

The public restrooms at Second and 22nd streets in Hermosa Beach have closed for renovation. Changes to the facilities include "better plumbing" and improved walls, . The bathrooms are expected to reopen in September, and the restroom at 14th Street will then be demolished.

Tweet Trouble

A thanked Redondo Beach Mayor Mike Gin for endorsing Huey for Congress—the only problem was, Gin told Patch that he has not endorsed Huey. Oops! However, Redondo Beach City Attorney Mike Webb has endorsed Huey in a message on his campaign website.

Hot’s Kitchen

The new Hermosa Avenue restaurant Hot’s Kitchen hosted a —serving up its cornbread tacos, local brews and giving guests a taste of its gourmet plates.
