Fresh & Easy on PCH
The opened on PCH in Hermosa Beach on Wednesday. The shop was built as a Fresh & Easy "express store," which is a smaller version of other Fresh & Easy stores in the area, according to the company.

Child prostitution in the South Bay
Child prostitution is a problem here in the South Bay, said Los Angeles County Fourth District Supervisor Don Knabe, whose district includes Hermosa Beach. Numbers provided by his office Monday show that were arrested in Long Beach and the South Bay.

A puppy homecoming
Harmony, a deaf boxer-American bulldog puppy, who was stolen during the holidays returned home Monday. Her family told Patch that and a vet found burn marks on her body. "We're trying to bring her back to health," said owner Sheyla Thomasson.
Education funding
Hermosa Beach City Attorney Michael Jenkins during a City Council meeting Tuesday. "The financing of schools is a state function, not a municipal function," Jenkins said. Meanwhile, Gov. Jerry Brown hopes to convince Californians to tax themselves to support schools.
My Fit Foods
The healthy-eating company My Fit Foods aims in late February, a store representative told Patch on Friday. The shop will offer pre-packaged and pre-portioned meals.
Hermosa landmark to evolve
Saturday marked before the restaurant is set to reopen as Abigaile in early February. Abigaile has been designed to "pay homage to what’s been here before, but at the same time... push the edge of what I think the community is ready for in new concept and food," said owner Jed Sanford.
