Barragan, Dulcos, Fangary Still Lead in City Council Race

The Nov. 5 election, which saw seven candidates seeking three open seats, has been too close to call due to 700 provisional and late-arriving vote-by-mail ballots.

The Nov. 5 election, which saw seven candidates seeking three open seats on the Hermosa Beach City Council, has been too close to call due to 700 provisional and late-arriving vote-by-mail ballots. As votes continue to be counted, new totals are now in. 

Nanette Barragan still holds the lead in the Hermosa Beach City Council election with 2,014 votes, while incumbent Jeff Duclos is still in second with 1,886 and Hany Fangary is in third with 1,884. Carolyn Petty is close behind with 1,860 votes. Barragan, Duclos and Fangary finished Nov. 5 as the top three three. 

Click here to follow Patch's live widget of the vote count as it is updated. Another update is expected on Nov. 15, according to the Beach Reporter, and the official winners will be declared by the county on Nov. 25. 

The Hermosa Beach school board race has also been too close to call. With eight candidates seeking three seats, the top three vote getters on Nov. 5 are still in the lead. Mary Campbell has 1,956 votes, followed by Carleen Beste with 1,605 and Maggie Bove-LaMonica with 1,581. Jim Caldwell is in fourth with 1,333.
