Election Update: Barragan, Petty, Fangary Lead in Hermosa Beach City Council Race
The Nov. 5 election, which saw seven candidates seeking three open seats, has been too close to call due to 700 provisional and late-arriving vote-by-mail ballots.
The Nov. 5 election, which saw seven candidates seeking three open seats on the Hermosa Beach City Council, has been too close to call due to 700 provisional and late-arriving vote-by-mail ballots. As votes continue to be counted, new totals are now in.
For the three open seats, Nanette Barragan remains in the lead of all city council candidates, followed by Carolyn Petty and Hany Fangary. Incumbent Jeff Duclos dropped to fourth place after being in second place before new results were posted Nov. 15. Fangary remains in third, while Petty jumps to second from fourth.
Barragan currently has 2,138 votes, followed by Petty (1,996), Fangary (1,992) Duclos (1,985), incumbent Kit Bobko (1,695), Greg Savelli (1,430) and John Bowler (1,287).

In the Hermosa Beach school board race, which has three open seats and also was too close to call on Nov. 5, Mary Campbell has 2,068 votes, followed by Carleen Beste (1,682) and Maggie Bove-LaMonica (1,680). All three seem secure in their leads as Jim Caldwell (1,404) is in fourth.
The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk plans to certify the results on Nov. 25.
