Recount Called for in Hermosa Beach City Council Election
The razor-thin election was initially too close to call due to 700 late arriving 700 provisional and late-arriving vote-by-mail ballots.
A full recount of the the close Hermosa Beach City Council election will take place in early December after a group of citizens sent the county a request for a recount on Tuesday morning, according to the Easy Reader News.
The razor-thin election was initially too close to call due to 700 provisional and late-arriving vote-by-mail ballots. Ultimately, Nanette Barragan, Carolyn Petty and Hany Fangary won the three open seats, with fourth-place incumbent Jeff Duclos finishing a mere seven votes behind Fangary.

The recount could cost over $5,000 a day and is estimated to take three days.
"If we are successful at the end of the count and Jeff winds up in the top three after all, the County pays us back. If the results remain the same, we will be out whatever we have spent,” Duclos’ campaign manager Larry Fox said in an email, according to the Easy Reader.
