Next Wednesday, Jan. 9, local community well-being program, Blue Zones Project, will host the Mayors’ Cook-off event at upscale Abigaile Restaurant in Hermosa Beach. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the Cook-off will begin around 6:30 p.m.

The mayors from Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach will each partner with a well-known chef from their city to create a healthy, tasty dish in an Iron Chef style competition. A panel of chefs, community stakeholders and media judges will select the winning dish.

The event is free to the public, but is first come first serve and the last remaining spots are filling up quickly! To RSVP, please visit the event site.

The Mayors’ Cook-off serves as a culmination event for the Mayors' Challenge that took place in 2012, in which all three city mayors of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach competed to see who could rally the most resident support and participants for the Blue Zones Project.

Freedom is based on a sure identity, that I know who I am, but more importantly WHOSE I am. WhenRead More the LORD sent Moses to deliver His people, that was the beginning of their liberty. They were a particular people to the LORD, whose name is better understand as "He who was, is, and always will be." Not a god made of stone or wood, but the One who made, makes, and evermore makes and gives to us: the LORD took Israel by the hand and led them from bondage to slavery. Not who you are, but whose you are, makes all the difference between bondage and liberty: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8: 15) Have you been adopted yet? "
