New Year Celebration to Hit Pier Plaza

The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce is organizing a Big Apple-inspired New Year's Eve celebration in Pier Plaza on Dec. 31.

Big band tunes and even the iconic Times Square ball drop will be part of New Year’s Eve celebrations in Hermosa Beach’s Pier Plaza, according to the .

The chamber announced last week that it will host a downtown , beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 31.

Lou Giovannetti and His Big Band (an 18-piece orchestra) will be among performers. Plus, a large video display will replay the ball drop in New York’s Times Square.

"The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce is excited to put on this celebration for residents and visitors to ring in the New Year right here in Hermosa Beach," said chamber executive director Maureen Hunt in a statement.

She added that the new year marks the chamber’s 100th anniversary.

Admission to the Pier Plaza New Year’s Eve celebration is free and open to the public.
