Tone It Up: Healthy Pancake Recipe for the New Year
Here is how to make the "Tone It Up" protein pancakes, created by local fitness experts Karena Dawn and Katrina Hodgson.
As the first week of the new year comes to an end, it's more important than ever to stay dedicated to those resolutions made on New Year's Day.
For those of you with health-related or weight loss goals, we dug through Hermosa Beach Patch archives to find this simple and nutritious pancake recipe that Karena Dawn and Katrina Hodgson, owners of studio, a couple of years ago.
Here's how to make "Tone It Up" protein pancakes:

1/4 cup egg whites
1 scoop Boku raw vegan rice protein powder or vanilla protein powder

2 tbsp vanilla almond milk or skim milk
1/2 banana (mashed)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp ground flaxseed
Instructions: Mix the above ingredients together then, using olive oil cooking spray, cook in a pan like you would any other pancake. Add a handful of fresh or frozen blueberries to the serving plate after the above ingredients are mixed together and cooked.
