Applications for the Leadership Hermosa Beach Class of 2013 are being accepted until July 15.

Leadership Hermosa Beach, a nonprofit organization dedicated fostering civic pride and commitment, is for its class of 2013.

The nine-month program runs from September of this year to June 2013, and is open to adults who "live, work or play in Hermosa Beach," according to the organization. A maximum of 25 members of the class are selected by a committee of community leaders, past program graduates, and members of the Leadership Hermosa Beach Board of Directors.

Classes are scheduled for one evening per month.

At the end of each class year, members complete a "class project" that benefits the city. The 2011 class installed artisan bicycle racks along the Strand at Second, 14th and 22nd Streets; at Hermosa Valley Park; and at the Community Center, among other locations.

Other past projects include renovating the Hermosa Beach Community Center and installing blue locator dots at every fire hydrant in the city.
