Residents Remember Caring, Artistic King

A memorial service was held Saturday for local artisan Linda King who died in a fire at King's Gallery in May.

Family and friends honored the memory of South Bay native Linda King at St. Cross by-the-sea Episcopal Church Saturday afternoon. "We're here to celebrate her life," said the church's pastoral associate Rev. Mike Olsen.

King grew up just blocks away from the church on Loma Drive in Hermosa Beach. She graduated from Mira Costa High School in 1960.

After traveling the world as a stewardesses for Trans International Airlines, King took over her family's business on Aviation Boulevard, King's Gallery. She died in Torrance, at the age of 69, after a fire broke out at the framing store in May.

Community members said that they remember her artistic skill, as she created custom photo frames for residents, as well as her sheep dog Daisy who often greeted customers at the door of the gallery.
