Brews News: Two Breweries Celebrate 1 Year Anniversary

Hermosa Beach's The Brewery at Abigaile has started distributing kegs of its beer around Los Angeles.

As new breweries continue to pop up in the South Bay and Los Angeles, two local breweries are celebrating their big one-year anniversaries -- The Brewery at Abigaile in Hermosa Beach and Monkish Brewing in Torrance.

The Brewery at Abigaile in Hermosa Beach announced this week that just in time for its anniversary, it has partnered with distributor Craft Beer Distributors to begin sending kegs of its beers to local bars in the Los Angeles area.

To celebrate the new distribution and also its one-year anniversary, head brewer Brian Brewer cooked up a batch of a double IPA known simply as "001" (pronounced double-oh-one). The beer was release on Monday as part of Abigaile's one year anniversary celebration and is still on tap at Abigaile.

Monkish Brewing, located in Torrance, also celebrated one year of brewing beer this week. Although the brewery did not officially open to the public until last March, head brewer Henry Nguyen brewed the first Monkish brew one year ago this month.

Here is a look at what else is happening on the craft beer scene in the South Bay:
