SUV hit and run, killing dog

Yesterday while my friend was walking back from the beach with his beloved Cocker Spaniel, an SUV came around the corner of 2nd and Hermosa. Before he knew it, the SUV banged into his shoulder, but worse ran over the dog. The dog was crushed as two tires ran over it and died in my friend's arms. The driver pulled over for a minute, then ran off without getting out to help. Then someone stopped and took my friend and the dog to an animal hospital where the vet said that he was gone. He was a precious animal who was one of the best. There is a special place in Hell for this driver. The police did get a statement and said it is a felony hit and run. They are investigating as to whether any street camera captured video of this crime. It happened about 1:30 PM on Thursday, 1/16. If you have any information please contact me or the Hermosa Police.
