Neighbors Greet Neighbors During National Night Out

The nationwide annual event brings together community members and public service staff in Hermosa Beach.

Neighbors and neighborhoods came alive in Hermosa Beach Tuesday night as the city's volunteer-led Neighborhood Watch and city service and safety staff participated in National Night Out.

The evening included a rotation of safety vehicles that visited neighborhoods in the city, said Tracy Hopkins of Neighborhood Watch.

In its 30th year, National Night Out brought together people in more than 15,700 communities consisting of 37.5 million people from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. The mission of the event is to fight crime and prevent drug use.
