Case Reportedly Dropped in Collision Involving Hermosa Officer
Harbor City resident Brian Hitchcock was in a June traffic accident that injured a Hermosa police officer. Now, the case against him has been dropped, according to the Daily Breeze.
The assault case against a man involved in a vehicle crash with a Hermosa Beach police officer two years ago has been dropped, the Daily Breeze reported Tuesday.
This latest development was announced in the Torrance courthouse, according to the Breeze.
The crash in the center of the case occurred on June 8, 2010 in the 1100 block of Artesia Boulevard. At the time, investigators were unsure whether it was an accident or an intentional act.

Harbor City resident Brian Hitchcock was driving his BMW convertible through Redondo Beach at about 6 p.m. when Hermosa Beach police officer Anthony Parente, who was riding a motorcycle, tried to pull Hitchcock over, according to authorities.
The claim was that Hitchcock allegedly slammed on his brakes, causing Parente's motorcycle to crash into the convertible, injuring Parente.

Hitchcock was charged with single counts of assault, reckless driving causing bodily harm, and reckless driving. Now the case reportedly has been dropped as it could not be proven beyond "a reasonable doubt."
