Coroner's Officials ID Dead Woman

Coroner's officials have released the identity of a woman found shot in her home last week. Deputies are unsure whether the case is a homicide or a suicide.

The identity of the woman found dead in her Hermosa Beach home last week has been released by the coroner's office.

The woman has been identifed as Pamela Joan Walsh, 43, of Hermosa Beach, according to Ed Winter with the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.

Winter also said that the cause of death is still classified as "deferred" until toxicology and autopsy reports are finalized.

Walsh was found shot in "the upper torso" in her home on Eighth Street late last Tuesday, according to Deputy Mark Pope of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Headquarters Bureau, which is investigating the case. She was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

As of Wednesday evening, deputies were not sure whether Walsh's death was a homicide or a suicide, Pope said. Her husband told police that she shot herself.

Deputies questioned and released the husband Wednesday.

According to the Hermosa Beach Police Department, the sheriff's department normally investigates homicides or potential homicides in Hermosa.
