Crime Blotter: Domestic Assault and Thefts

A review of crimes reported to the Hermosa Beach Police Department in the past week.

The following are a list of crimes reported to the Hermosa Beach Police Department, provided by the Hermosa Beach Neighborhood Watch and Crimereports.com

April 10: Theft, 600 Block of 4th Street, a black and white bicycle with black fenders and white walls was taken. The owner also did not know when. No suspects were observed taking the bicycle.

April 12: Robbery, 700 block of Pier Avenue, the suspect entered Vons grocery store, loaded up a shopping cart with liquid laundry detergent and toilet paper and pushed it outside without paying for the items. Store Loss Prevention officer met with the suspect outside, who resisted and struggled with the officer. The officer eventually controlled and detained the suspect. The suspect's car was located in the parking lot and impounded. The suspect was identified as one of the persons involved in shoplifting items from CVS two days earlier (as reported in last week's Crime Blotter). Witnesses to that crime had provided a license plate belonging to the suspect, which matched the plate of the impounded vehicle.

April 13: Theft, 700 block of Pier Avenue, after leaving his bicycle outside of Vons, the owner spotted a male Black adult stealing the bicycle, which was unlocked. The owner chased the suspect but could not catch him.

April 13: Burglary, 200 block of 28th Street, unknown suspect or suspects entered an unlocked house and stole approximately $15,000 worth of jewelry from a jewerly box in the bedroom. There were no signs of forced entry and no fingerprints were obtained.

April 15: Domestic assault, 1 block of 18th Court, the victim was choked and threatened by the suspect. The two live together with their child.

April 16: Theft, 900 block of 15th Place, the known suspect stole construction tools from his uncle, intending to use them as collateral to force the uncle to pay a higher wage, which the suspecte believed was owed him.
