Fire Investigator Accused of Brandishing Gun

Darryl Powers was off-duty when he allegedly pointed the weapon at a woman in a bar.

An off-duty Hermosa Beach Fire Department arson investigator has been accused of pointing a gun at a woman at a Sunset Beach bar.

Darryl Lee Powers, 49, who lives in La Palma, visited the bar with a cousin around 9:15 p.m. on July 7. After a couple of drinks, he allegedly took out a knife and jabbed it into the bar where he was sitting.

A bartender removed the knife and warned Powers not to show the weapon again, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
