Hermosa Crime: Stolen Patio Furniture

The Hermosa Beach Police Department supplied this information on recent crime in Hermosa Beach.

The Hermosa Beach Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Hermosa Beach for the week spanning Feb. 5 through Monday.

Vandalism

Feb. 5, 9:47 p.m.; 800 block of Hermosa Avenue
A suspect was arrested by police after allegedly breaking a plate glass window at a local business in the area.

Fraud

Feb. 5, 9:40 p.m.; 200 block of 30th Street
Someone tried to collect a victim's tax return from the IRS using the victim's name and social security number via the internet. Police said it could also have been a clerical error as the suspect used a similar name but different address and date of birth. The incident is still being investigated as a crime.

Commercial Burglary

Feb. 6, 9:54 p.m.; Von's Supermarket
Suspects allegedly entered the Von's grocery store off Pier Avenue and proceeded to walk out of the store with thousands of dollars of alcohol in a shopping cart without paying for it first.

Hit and Run

Feb. 7, 1:09 a.m.; 11th Street
A known suspect allegedly hit a parked car with his vehicle and then fled the scene in view of Hermosa police officers. The suspect was arrested after officers pursued the suspect.

Possession of Stolen Property

Feb. 10, 9:10 p.m.; 11th Street
During a traffic stop, officers discovered the driver of the vehicle was on parole for fraud. The driver of the vehicle was then arrested by officers after they found an allegedly stolen checkbook in the vehicle.

Theft

Feb. 8, 12:51 p.m.; 400 block of Herondo Street
Someone stole unknown items from an unlocked car parked on the street

Feb. 8, 8:41 a.m.; 300 block of 24th Street
Someone reported seeing two male Hispanic adults stealing patio furniture from a residence.

Feb. 11, 7:31 p.m.; 700 block of Second Street
Someone took personal items from an unlocked car.

Stolen Vehicle

Feb. 9, 9:58 a.m.; 400 block of Herondo Street
An unknown person stole a Harley Davidson motorcycle. No further information or description of a possible suspect was given.

Feb. 11, 6:59 p.m.; Intersection of 16th Street and Hermosa Avenue
A white Ford Econoline van was stolen by an unknown person. No further information was available.
