Homeless Man Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder

The 56-year-old suspect, Gary Fisher, is accused of stabbing another homeless man Saturday during an alleged argument over a coat.

A homeless man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in a violent stabbing Saturday, which allegedly occurred during an argument over a coat, according to Hermosa Beach police.

Gary Fisher, 56, and another homeless man were fighting near on Pier Avenue around 11:40 a.m. over a jacket that Fisher was wearing when one of them pulled out a knife, police said.

The other man, who reportedly accused Fisher of taking the jacket from him, was stabbed in the neck and back, police said

Witnesses called police, and emergency personnel transported the man to a local hospital where he is now in serious but stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. Police withheld his name to protect his safety.

After being called to the scene, officers found Fisher in a nearby area with a bloody knife in his pocket and wearing the jacket that allegedly triggered the brawl.

Fisher was taken into custody at the Los Angeles County jail, where he is being held in lieu of $l million bail.
