Man Arrested in Alleged Attack Against Ex-girlfriend

Man arrested

Hermosa Beach police have arrested a man who is accused of allegedly beating his ex-girlfriend and holding her hostage in her Palm Drive residence.

Officers arrested David Blackman of Hermosa Beach in connection to the incident, police said Tuesday.

Officers received a call around 4 p.m. Monday regarding the incident, according to police. When officers responded to the call, they said they found the woman in her residence with face injuries and a possible fractured nose.

The woman told officers that Blackman, her ex-boyfriend, had beat her and held her at knifepoint for about three hours, threatening to kill her if she tried to leave, according to police.

Blackman left the woman’s residence before police arrived, detectives said, adding that they later found him at his Hermosa Beach residence. He was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment with violence. Blackman is being held at the Hermosa Beach Police Department jail on $50,000 bail.

Apartment burglary

A residence on the floor level of the apartments on Herondo Street was broken into, according to police reports. A man notified police of the burglary around 2 a.m. Friday, and said the incident must have occurred during the previous four hours.

Officers noted in the report that the burglar appeared to have crawled into the residence through a floor-level open window. Various items were stolen.
