No Charges Filed Against Kings' Doughty

The District Attorney's Office has declined to file charges against L.A. Kings player and Hermosa Beach resident Drew Doughty in connection with a woman's claim that he sexually assaulted her in Hermosa Beach on March 1.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office declined Wednesday to file a case against Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty in connection with a woman's claim that he sexually assaulted her at his Hermosa Beach home on March 1.

"At this time, there is insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt," Deputy District Attorney Christi Frey wrote in a charge evaluation worksheet.

The prosecutor noted that police offered to record a call between the woman and Doughty in an attempt to get incriminating statements, but that the woman did not want to call the hockey player.

The woman alleged that Doughty -- a member of the team that won this year's Stanley Cup -- had raped her and forced her to perform oral sex on him at his house after both had been drinking separately with friends at Sharkeez Bar in Hermosa Beach.
