Police Blotter: Possible Suicide Attempt

Responding quickly, detectives find and take into custody a Hermosa Beach man who reportedly said he was going to kill himself.

Hermosa Beach police detectives responded to a call on Wednesday concerning a man who reportedly told a friend he was going to kill himself. Officers were able to locate the man in Torrance. He was later transported to Harbor General Hospital in Carson for care, authorities said Thursday.

A woman who told officers she was a friend of the man called police early Wednesday. She reported that the man, who is in his 50s, left her a voicemail message saying he was going to kill himself, police said.

When detectives went to the man's home, he was gone but they found an empty gun case and missing ammunition. There was also a suicide note left inside the man's bedroom, police said.
