Police Blotter: Gun Shown During Parking Dispute

A weapon is drawn during an argument over a space, and a pouch of expensive jewelry is stolen.

Gunpoint parking

Parking on 11th Street was a struggle Thursday night, but when two men finally found an open space, two other men argued that the space was theirs. The two pairs of men reportedly were strangers  to one another.  After a verbal dispute, the first pair reported to police that they successfully parked in the space and the second pair left the area, but not for long.

The second pair returned about one hour later, according to the police report, and confronted the first pair of men again, pointing a handgun at one of them before driving away.

Lost parking pass

When a Hermosa Beach resident returned home from an afternoon at Watermans restaurant on June 19, she told police that she was stunned to find her residential parking permit missing from her purse. The woman ate lunch between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., while many other customers crowded the restaurant to watch the World Cup. The woman's purse was hanging on the back of her chair while she was eating, she told police. The woman said that she suspects someone stole the parking pass out of her purse.

Cash taken

A wallet with $400 in it was taken from a 2004 Volkswagen Gol on Thursday, the owner told police. The car was parked in the 1700 block of Prospect Avenue between 4:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. The car doors were unlocked, according to the police report, and the wallet was left in plain view.
