Police Blotter: July Fourth Brawls

A punch in the head, slap with a skateboard and trip to the hospital keep police busy on the holiday.

Rushed to hospital

A man was walking north on the 700 block of the Strand when three people on skateboards started to taunt him Sunday night. After the man started to argue with the group, they jumped on him and started to attack. The man was transported to the hospital by paramedics for injuries at about 10 p.m. Police are investigating the assault.

A person was punched in the back of the head while walking along the 500 block of Pier Avenue on Sunday night. The punch caused the person to fall on the ground at about 11:10 p.m. Three men approached and continued to punch the person repeatedly, police were told. Officers are still searching for the three men.

Police arrested a person for hitting someone over the head with a skateboard during an argument Sunday night in the 800 block of Loma Drive. Friends of the suspect rushed to the Hermosa Beach police station at about 11:30 p.m. to report their version of what happened, and beg for their friend's release. Police haven't reported the details of their pleas.
