Three bikes are among the thefts reported last week.


Kicked Mirror

On the morning of May 24, a Long Beach resident reported damage to his 2002 Toyota vehicle that had been parked overnight on the 700 block of Hermosa Avenue. The owner reported that the passenger-side mirror had been kicked in. Police say a footprint from a Vans shoe was left on the mirror.

Bike Stolen

A night out on the town was ruined when a man realized that his bike was stolen. The white and black beach cruiser bike was locked to a stairwell railing with a heavy duty Kryptonite lock on the 600 block of Hermosa Avenue. Between 11 p.m.  May 26 and 2 a.m. May 27, someone cut the lock, which was left behind, and fled the scene with the $450 bike. The victim left a note with police: "I'm heartbroken. Please help me find it!"

Car Cleaned Out

A woman reported that several items were stolen from her Jeep Wrangler, which had been parked and left unlocked in a carport on 18th Street between 11 p.m. on May 26 and 8 a.m. May 27. The woman told police that her Verizon phone charger, MP3 cord, loose change and two sunglass cases were missing, with a combined total worth of $63. No other items were reported taken from the vehicle.

 Double Bike Theft

Two beach cruisers were reported stolen May 27.  A man and his wife said that they locked their bikes to a rack on the corner of Pier Avenue and the Strand. When the couple returned four days later, the bikes were gone. One bike, valued at $545, is black in color and has a "Save the Bay" sticker on the fender. The other is metallic green and worth $450.
