Downtown punch
A stranger suddenly punched a person in the face late Sunday night on Pier Plaza, according to police reports. The assault happened around 11:54 p.m. without provocation, and witnesses confirmed the incident, according to police.

Burglary arrest
Police arrested a man Sunday on suspicion of stealing tequila from the liquor store on Hermosa Avenue. The man allegedly entered the store around 8 p.m. and ran out with the bottle of alcohol, according to police reports.

The man ran toward the corner of 2nd Street and the Strand. Police later detained him for investigation and reported that the person who notified officers about the crime identified the man as the burglary suspect.
Vehicle theft
A vehicle was stolen on the 900 block of Prospect Avenue on July 17, according to police reports. It was not reported how the vehicle was taken. Another vehicle was left behind in place of the missing car. Police found that the vehicle left behind had been stolen from Huntington Park.
