Police Chief OK After Hospital Stay
Hermosa Beach interim Police Chief Steve Johnson is released from the hospital. He was admitted after complaining of chest pains Tuesday.
Hermosa Beach interim Police Chief Steve Johnson is expected to return to work Monday after spending Tuesday night in a hospital after suffering from a severe headache and chest pains that shot down his arms, the Daily Breeze reported. He is expected to be OK.
According to reporter Larry Altman, suspecting he might be having a heart attack, coworkers called paramedics after Johnson complained of chest pains.
Capt. Tom Tompson will be in charge of the until Johnson returns, Altman reported.

after former Chief Greg Savelli left in January to head the Los Angeles Department of Transportation's parking enforcement division.
Prior to his promotion, Johnson had been a captain in the Hermosa Beach Police Department. He started his law-enforcement career as a deputy sheriff in Orange County, and has served as a patrol officer, detective and patrol bureau supervisor in the Huntington Beach Police Department. He later joined the San Marino Police Department.
