Police: DUI Checkpoint Set for Saturday
Remember to party responsibly this Labor Day weekend—police plan to conduct a driver sobriety checkpoint in Hermosa Beach on Saturday.
The is joining forces with Manhattan Beach police to conduct a driver sobriety and license checkpoint Saturday on Artesia Boulevard, just west of Prospect Avenue, here in Hermosa, police said.
The checkpoint will be set up to monitor eastbound traffic.
From 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., officers will not only check for drunk drivers, but they will also make sure motorists have proper licenses.

The checkpoint comes during Labor Day weekend, when visitors are expected to flood Hermosa Beach for as well as party in the downtown area.
Drunk drivers arrested could face fines and penalties of up to $10,000 and loss of driving privileges for up to a year, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Hermosa Beach saw 17 DUI incidents in September last year, according to the Hermosa Beach Police Department's monthly statistics.
