Police to Host Training at Mira Costa

Police cars, fire trucks and uniformed officers will swarm Mira Costa High School in neighboring Manhattan Beach on Saturday as simulated critical response incidents are staged for training, according to Manhattan Beach police.

During the all-day training, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach police officers will practice responding to various crisis scenarios, such as the presence of a dangerous shooter on the high school campus.

“For safety reasons, it is imperative that neighbors and campus visitors adhere to signage, barricades, yellow police tape, as well as police and fire personnel instructions” during the training, said Manhattan Beach Police Sgt. Christian Eichenlaub in a statement last week.

Police have recruited volunteers to assist with the training by playing the roles of either victim or witness during the practice scenarios.

The critical incident response training will continue July 22 and 23 at Mira Costa.
