Stabbing Incident May Not Have Started in Sharkeez

Police continue to investigate a fight on Pier Plaza late Sunday night that left two men with stab wounds.

A verbal argument police thought began inside Sharkeez that escalated to a stabbing on Pier Plaza late Sunday night may not have taken place inside the business, said Hermosa Beach Police Detective Mick Gaglia Tuesday afternoon.

A press release issued by HBPD had reported that the victims and alleged assailants had exchanged words inside the bar, however, police are unable to prove that, he said.

Sharkeez representatives told Patch that the two victims had been inside the establishment but left about 30 minutes before the stabbing took place outside on Pier Plaza in front of American Junkie. They said that none of the assailants were reported to have been in the bar, according to staff working that night.

Dimetrick Richmond, 26, of Whittier, was arrested for suspicion of attempted murder a few blocks away from the crime scene Monday morning and appeared in court Tuesday. Police continue to look for other suspects believed to have been involved in the fight, said Gaglia.

The two injured men, one of whom was operated on, are reported to be in stable condition in a hospital.
