Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance Wednesday to investigate a suitcase that someone had padlocked to a railing, officials said, but it turned out to be just a suitcase.Sheriff's bomb-sniffing dogs were called to
Patrolling deputies spotted the case outside the north entrance about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to LASD Sgt. Gregory Evans.
The area was cordoned off and the north entrance of the medical center
was shut down as deputies with dogs were called to check the suitcase, Evans said.
Before the unit arrived, however, the owner of the suitcase was found inside the
hospital, he said.
"The closure of the north entrance lasted approximately 15 minutes," and no medical services were affected, Evans said.
It was unclear why the owner padlocked the suitcase to the railing.
