Taxi Driver Punched Twice, According to Report

A verbal argument turns physical in downtown Hermosa Beach.

A taxi driver was punched by two men in a "road rage" altercation of sorts, according to a Hermosa Beach Police Department report.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 22 when pedestrians who were crossing against the light the intersection at Pier and Hermosa avenues engaged in a verbal argument with a taxi driver who was attempting to turn left from Pier onto Hermosa to park at the taxi stand, said HB Detective Mick Gaglia.

The two male suspects approached the taxi driver after he parked, with one man punching the driver who was in his car, according to the report. The cabbie got out of his car, chased the suspects, engaged in another verbal argument with the men and then was punched by the second suspect.

The suspects are described as white males, 21-26 years of age, 5'8" to 6', and were wearing dark clothing, said Gaglia.
