Police Thursday sought an identity thief who tried buying a Macbook Pro with stolen credit but when the transaction took too long, he left a fake Connecticut driver's license in an area Fry's store.
The man's vehicle was identified as a gray Chrysler Sebring; he entered the store at 3600 Sepulveda Blvd. about 6:30 p.m. July 14 and tried to buy the laptop, Manhattan Beach police Detective Michael Allard said in a news release.
"While waiting for the cashier to receive approval, video surveillance shows the suspect becoming very agitated and nervous,'' Allard said.
The suspect asked store employees to cancel the transaction and to return his license but, after 10 more minutes, he left the store, leaving the bogus license behind, Allard said.
The suspect was seen leaving in a gray Chrysler Sebring.
Surveillance stills of the suspect and the alleged suspect vehicle were released in the hope of capturing the bandit.
Anyone with more information about the suspect was urged to call police at 310-802-5125.
