City Council, City Treasurer Race Officially Opens

Candidates for three open Hermosa Beach City Council seats and the available city treasurer position may pull official nomination papers beginning Monday during city hall hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Council members Howard Fishman and Jeff Duclos and Mayor Patrick "Kit" Bobko hold the three seats that will become available in November. Fishman has said he will not run in 2013, instead traveling and opting to try for a seat in 2015. Bobko and Duclos have announced their intentions to seek re-election.

"Win or lose, it will be my last campaign," wrote Duclos in am email to Patch. "My hope has always been, with the public's consent, to serve two terms."

Former Hermosa Beach Police Chief Greg Savelli held his campaign kick-off June 27th at the Beach House Hotel.

Savelli left his position as police chief to take a job as chief of the Los Angeles Department of Transportation's parking enforcement division for the City of Los Angeles in January. He'd been Hermosa Beach's police chief for about five years.

The official nomination period ends at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.
