Alcohol and Smoking on City Council Agenda

The panel will also receive a presentation from the school district's strategic planning committee on the sustainability of Hermosa campuses.

The City Council will revisit its  Tuesday as it deliberates whether to alter the annual review of on-sale alcoholic beverage conditional use permits, which allow alcohol to be sold and consumed at establishments.

The panel will vote on whether to direct staffers to implement permit review criteria for the future.

In other municipal matters, the panel will decide whether to continue working with the advisory group for an additional six months before accepting member applications for a new two-year term.

Council members will also discuss a citywide ban on smoking in outdoor dining areas.

The panel will hold public hearings at about 7:30 p.m. to review this fiscal year’s community development block grant program, which has been submitted to the council for approval with an allocation of about $98,747.

Hermosa residents are also invited to discuss a possible zoning code amendment that would add provisions to accommodate people with disabilities “seeking equal access to housing.”

Now that the for the 2011 city calendar, the council will vote on signing off on the special events rundown.

 The council meeting is Tuesday at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
