Beach Tennis and Bike Racks on Council Agenda

The City Council will discuss installing a third tennis court at 14th Street and updates on the Leadership Hermosa project.

Hermosa’s coastline soon could see another beach tennis court on its sand. The City Council will discuss approving the installation of a court at 14th Street in a meeting Tuesday night.

The recommended last year that the city install three new beach tennis courts. The council approved installing two courts, and now will consider allowing the third court to adjoin the others.

After approving Leadership Hermosa’s request in January  (see accompanying meeting minutes under photo), the City Council will revisit the project.

After the community group addresses questions that the council posed last month, the panel will vote again to approve the final project plan.

Council members will discuss extending their waste and recycling agreement with Consolidated Disposal Services beyond Oct. 1 to allow time for the city to review its existing contract and other service options. For this review process, the council will consider conferring with HF&H Consultants

A public hearing will be held as council members deliberate approving a zone change from M-1 light manufacturing to two-family residential for a property at 623 3rd St.

The council meeting is Tuesday at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
