Chamber Installs Board, Honors Woman, Man of the Year

Tuesday night's installation dinner and awards ceremony brought a crowd to Abigaile.

Ron Newman of Baja Sharkeez and Andrea Jacobsson of Jama Auto House received special business awards from the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau Tuesday night.

Newman, who was honored with the "Spirit of the Chamber Award," and Jacobsson, who was feted with the "Business Advocate of the Year Award," joined award recipients Sam Perrotti and Carol Tanner, who'd been previously announced as Man of the Year and Woman of the Year.

  • Previously:

Hermosa Beach Mayor Kit Bobko made the presentations at Abigaile during the chamber's board installation dinner and awards ceremony.

With close to 100 people at the event, including a number of past Man and Woman of the Year honorees, Bobko, Steve Napolitano from Supervisor Don Knabe’s office and representatives from State Senator Ted Lieu’s office and Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi’s office made the presentations, said Matt Bennett, chamber communications manager.

Newly elected and re-elected members to the chamber’s board of directors who were installed at the dinner include: Brittny Burford, Shorewood Realtors; Susan Burden, Beach Cities Health District; Steve Francis, Pinkie's BBQ; Kathleen Knoll, Uncorked The Wine Shop; Newman, Baja Sharkeez, and Adrienne Slaughter, Easy Reader.

The chamber has about 325 business members, said Bennett.

Freedom is based on a sure identity, that I know who I am, but more importantly WHOSE I am. WhenRead More the LORD sent Moses to deliver His people, that was the beginning of their liberty. They were a particular people to the LORD, whose name is better understand as "He who was, is, and always will be." Not a god made of stone or wood, but the One who made, makes, and evermore makes and gives to us: the LORD took Israel by the hand and led them from bondage to slavery. Not who you are, but whose you are, makes all the difference between bondage and liberty: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8: 15) Have you been adopted yet? "
