City Council Candidates Set to Debate

Four candidates vying for two seats on the Hermosa Beach City Council in upcoming municipal election. Debate scheduled for Oct. 5.

Hermosa Beach residents will have a chance to hear Hermosa Beach City Council candidates debate for their vote in a forum sponsored by the Hermosa Beach Neighborhood Association on Oct. 5.

The group has announced that the debate will take place in council chambers at from 7 to 9 p.m.

Councilmen Michael DiVirgilio and Peter Tucker as well as residents Hany Fangary and Steve Powers have all submitted their names to vy for in an upcoming Nov. 8 municipal election.

Candidates at the debate will address public safety and quality of life issues, as well as residential and commercial development in Hermosa Beach, according to the neighborhood association.

For residents unable to attend the debate, it will be broadcast live and re-aired on Time Warner cable channel 8 and Verizon FIOS channel 31, the association has announced.
