City to be Honored at Angels Game

A city-chartered bus is scheduled to drive residents to the game where Hermosa Beach will be recognized as winner of the Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation.

As winner of the , Hermosa Beach will be recognized at a Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game June 8.

A city-chartered bus has been reserved to ensure that residents have a ride to the event.

Cities across Los Angeles County participated in the month-long challenge in April, which ranked them based on the percentage of their residents who pledged online to conserve water and practice energy-saving habits.

Tickets to the Angels game were among the prizes awarded to Hermosa Beach residents who participated in the challenge.

Now, as an effort to continue promoting environmentally friendly behavior, the city hopes that bus transportation will not only help residents save gas but also reduce air pollution by leaving their cars behind as they commute to the game.

The bus will depart from the Hermosa Beach Community Center at 710 Pier Ave. at 5:15 p.m. and will return immediately after the game.

Residents can sign-up to ride the bus for $5 per person by calling the Community Resources Department at 310-318-0280 by Monday.
