The panel will hold a public hearing to discuss a recent study of the cost of public services in Hermosa Beach and proposed changes.

At its meeting Tuesday night, the Hermosa Beach City Council will hold a public hearing to receive community feedback on that outlines, analyzes, and recommends changes to the city’s fee structures for public services.

The council will discuss adopting changes and repealing the previous Master Fee Resolution.

Council members will discuss the report and consider directing city staffers to seek an architectural firm to move forward with a comprehensive improvement plan for the local thoroughfares.

The council also will consider a proposal from Beach Cities Transit to continue shared funding for the Route 109 line with El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, and Redondo Beach at a reduced cost.

The cities signed a two-year agreement in 2008 to cover the operating costs of the bus line.

Now Hermosa Beach's portion of the total cost is proposed to be $17,145 for the 2011-2012 fiscal year using Proposition A funds, which is down from the $18,939 the city owed in 2010. If approved, Mayor Pete Tucker will sign the transit agreement on behalf of the city.

The City Council will discuss preparing for six upcoming vacancies on three of the city's boards and commissions this summer:

  • The terms for Parks and Recreation Commissioners Laura Raymond and Robert Rosenfeld are set to expire June 30. Both are eligible for re-appointment.
  • The terms for Planning Commissioners Peter Hoffman and Sam Perrotti are set to expire June 30. Both are eligible for re-appointment.
  • The terms for Civil Service Board members Susan Blaco and Barry Warner are set to expire July 15. Both are eligible for re-appointment.

Council members will decide whether to direct City Clerk Elaine Doerfling to begin advertising the upcoming vacancies and requesting applications to fill the positions.

The council meeting is Tuesday at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
