Fiesta, Schools, Procedures on Council Agenda

The Hermosa Beach City Council will hold its annual review of Fiesta Hermosa—plus, beach volleyball courts, possible schools tax, and meeting procedures are up for discussion.

The Hermosa Beach City Council in a meeting Tuesday night will review dates set for Fiesta Hermosa events this year. Each year the local fair is held during Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

The banners that hang on along Pier Avenue might soon see some changes as the council will discuss a proposal from the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce to manage them.

A written opinion from the city attorney's office to benefit the Hermosa Beach City School District will be presented at the council meeting.

Meeting procedures and development also will be up for discussion. The council will deliberate setting a permanent meeting ending time among other possible changes, as well as possibly preparing a strategic economic development plan for the Community Center complex and other downtown sites (see accompanying city staff report under photo.)

The panel will review goals and a workplan for the new year and the implementation of a smoking ban going into effect March 1.
