Hermosa Comedian Wins Parking Permit Design Contest

The stand-up comedian combines a photo and his trial-and-error computer graphics exploration to make the winning design.

Local comedian Jeff Capri has designed the winning art in the city’s Third Annual Parking Permit Art Contest. His design, a seagull flying over a beach volleyball match at sunset, will be featured on city-issued parking permits for 2013-2014.

“We chose Mr. Capri’s design from among many wonderful entries because it depicts the beauty of nature and the active lifestyle that have come to define our city,” said Mayor Jeff Duclos in a press release.

Six designs were submitted in the contest, which was open to all Hermosa Beach residents. City Manager Tom Bakaly selected the winning design.

Capri, a stand-up comic, combined a photo he had taken with his self-taught, trial-and-error exploration of computer graphics to create the design.

The new parking permits, which cost $40 each for residents and $143 each for employees of local businesses, go on sale Feb. 4, 2013. Residents and employees are encouraged to renew by mail to avoid standing in line.

The city's parking permit program enables permit holders can park at any yellow posted meter without paying at the meter and can park in one-hour zones in the residential areas without regard to the one-hour limit.

Freedom is based on a sure identity, that I know who I am, but more importantly WHOSE I am. WhenRead More the LORD sent Moses to deliver His people, that was the beginning of their liberty. They were a particular people to the LORD, whose name is better understand as "He who was, is, and always will be." Not a god made of stone or wood, but the One who made, makes, and evermore makes and gives to us: the LORD took Israel by the hand and led them from bondage to slavery. Not who you are, but whose you are, makes all the difference between bondage and liberty: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8: 15) Have you been adopted yet? "
