More Council Candidates Debates Set

Four candidates vying for two seats on the Hermosa Beach City Council in upcoming municipal election. Forums are planned for Oct. 13 and Oct. 27.

As the first gets underway Wednesday night, two more candidates forums already have been planned for Oct. 13 and Oct. 27.

will host the event on Oct. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. in council chambers at .

The forum will feature Councilmen Michael DiVirgilio and Peter Tucker as well as residents Hany Fangary and Steve Powers, who have all submitted their names to vy for in an upcoming Nov. 8 municipal election.

City Treasurer candidates David Cohn and John Workman are also expected to be in attendance.

Then the will sponsor a forum on Oct. 27 at the from 6 to 8 p.m. for council candidates as well as Cohn, Workman and City Clerk Elain Doerfling.

The topics of discussion will include fiscal and budgetary policy, developing business, the business tax structure, city services, and the long-term financial viability of the city.

As voters are welcome to attend, questions for council candidates will be solicited from the audience. There will be a bar and light buffet for guests.

The debate will be broadcast on Verizon channel 31 and Time Warner channel 8 after the event.
