When Hermosa Beach Mayor Howard Fishman took his seat last year in June, he aimed to focus on among other concerns, and now another city official soon will take the reins.
Next month Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Duclos will be appointed mayor in a council meeting set for April 10, according to the city's calendar.
Even though members of the City Council are elected at large, they rotate to serve as mayor for a period of nine months. As another rotation approaches, imagine yourself being named mayor—at least for a day. What would you do?
