Reports on Oil Proposal Now Available for Public Review

Want to learn what the experts have to say about the environmental, health and economic impacts of a proposed oil project at the city's maintenance yard?

Three reports detailing the impacts of an oil production project proposed by E&B Natural Resources Management Corp. are now available for public review.

The clock started ticking Feb. 13 on a 60-day period to review the environmental documents. Members of the public have until April 14 to check out – and give feedback on – the 30 oil and gas production wells and four injection wells on the 1.3 acre lot currently housing the city’ Public Works maintenance yard at the corner of Valley Drive and 6th Street.

The report details the environmental impacts and what steps can be taken to soften those impacts.

In addition, the city commissioned two other reports, one on the health consequences of the project and one on the possible economic impacts, which are also available for public review.

All three are available for viewing at the city’s website.

The City Council will also solicit public comments at its April 2 and 10 meetings, according to a timeline the city developed.

In other news, E&B has built a new website about the project, www.HermosaOilRecovery.com.

“The new website is intended to educate residents of Hermosa Beach on how oil can be recovered quietly, efficiently and with maximum safety and concern for our neighbors,” says a company press release.
