Sidewalks, Snowfest on Council Agenda

The Hermosa Beach City Council will meet at 7 p.m. in council chambers Tuesday.

A temporary law allowing outdoor dining on commercial sidewalks, excluding upper Pier Avenue, has been placed on the meeting agenda for Tuesday night as a consent ordinance, ready for the panel to adopt.

The council in September , which will last for at least six months, allowing business owners to also place merchandise, signs and tables with chairs along public sidewalks.

The council will discuss the idea of installing a drinking fountain on at 8th Street as well as plans to bring back the to downtown this holiday season.

Other items on the agenda include housing and building codes. The council will discuss affordable housing sites in the city and a draft general plan for submittal to the state Department of Housing and Community Development.

Council members also will discuss possibly amending the city’s building code to add preventative measures addressing the protection of adjoining properties to construction sites.
