The weather cooperated for the 19th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in downtown Hermosa Beach Saturday as wild, wacky and typical parade fare walked the route.
The parade, which lasted about one-and-a-half hours, brought out a large crowd that lined the streets from Valley Drive near City Hall, down Pier Ave. and on to Hermosa Ave.
Said Matt Bennett, parade announcer and communications manager for the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, "There was really nice energy down on the [Pier] plaza." Bennett was stationed on a stage where Pier Ave. meets Pier Plaza and announced each of the approximately 100 parade entries as they rounded the corner onto Hermosa Ave.
"It [the parade] really just represents the community," he said. "Everyone who's local gets together and has fun."
Indeed, kids were smiling, waving, laughing, dancing, jumping as they watched or participated in the parade, and adults had more than their fair share of fun, too.
