Street-Pole Signage on Council Agenda

The panel will also hold a public hearing to discuss a precise development plan to construct a parking lot on Hermosa Avenue.

The Hermosa Beach City Council will discuss how to use light pole banner space along Pier Avenue in a meeting Tuesday.

Council members to ask city staff to present them with existing policy to review so that possible changes might be considered.  

Downtown light poles were installed last year as part of the Pier Avenue Improvement Project, and originally showcased Hermosa Beach-themed artwork by local artists.

The council also will hold a public hearing to consider whether sustaining or appealing the Hermosa Beach Planning Commission’s decision in March to deny a precise development plan to construct a parking lot at 1429 Hermosa Ave.

In other items, the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce has asked the city to buy advertising in the chamber’s 100th anniversary business directory and community guide.

The city purchased a full-page ad in the 2008-2009 publication at a discounted rate of $2,235. If this year’s request is approved, the purchase will again be $2,235.

 The council meeting is Tuesday at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
