Traffic on City Council Agenda

The Hermosa Beach City Council will discuss in a meeting Tuesday night a mission statement and bylaws to be adopted for the Hermosa Beach Green Task Force.

The council decided , and will also discuss a recruitment process for new task force members.

Council members will receive a summary of the comments community members submitted in January in connection with , as well as discuss the regulation of parking large or recreational vehicles.

The council will discuss a traffic study of the Prospect Avenue and Aviation Boulevard area and proposal for traffic engineering services.

The council also will discuss the zoning ordinance regarding communication services, and whether to initiate a code amendment.

And, council members will discuss an initiative petition proposing “an ordinance modifying the amount of the business tax on restaurants and bars in order to increase tax revenue in the city” (see accompanying staff report.)

In other items, the City Council will consider taking a stance on Senate Bill 568, which would prohibit food vendors from distributing polystyrene foam (also known as Styrofoam) food containers in California beginning 2014 if passed.

In their previous meeting, council members on the use of Styrofoam containers for now.

City Manager Steve Burrell will discuss with the council the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce’s plans for the Memorial Day weekend Fiesta Hermosa’s free speech area.

Plus, another downtown  is around the corner—the council will discuss new additions to the monthly affair, which includes live music, special sales and more.

The council meeting is Tuesday at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
