Vote-by-Mail Ballots Still Available

Hermosa Beach voters can order mail-in ballots for July 12 runoff election in 36th Congressional District between Republican Craig Huey, Democrat Janice Hahn.

Voters can still request vote-by-mail ballots through July 5 for the July 12 special election to fill former-Rep. Jane Harman's vacated 36th Congressional District seat, said Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder-County Clerk Dean Logan in a statement Tuesday.

All mail-in ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on July 12.

Hermosa Beach residents can request a vote-by-mail ballot by:

  • submitting an electronic request online at lavote.net
  • sending a letter to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder-County Clerk at P.O. Box 30450, Los Angeles 90030;
  • or applying in person to the county clerk's office at 12400 Imperial Hwy. in Norwalk.

Los Angeles City Councilwoman , a Democrat, and businessman , a Republican, were the top two vote-getters in the for the 36th Congressional District seat—landing them in the July runoff.

Similar to other single-item ballots, the primary election in May .

The largely coastal 36th Congressional District stretches from Venice to San Pedro, and includes Hermosa Beach and neighboring communities.

The district skews largely Democratic with 45 percent of its roughly 345,000 voters registered as Democrats, compared with 27 percent registered as Republican and 22 percent declining to state their party preference, according to the California Secretary of State's office.
